Life Line Health Screening - Sept. 17

St. Matthew will host a Life Line Health Screening on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Here is a little additional information from Life Line with ways you can register to participate:

Spiritual First Aid Training Workshop

Lutheran Church Charities, most known for its comfort dog ministry and hearts of mercy and compassion (which are often provided after various national and local tragedies) is bringing a valuable training workshop to Conway on Friday, September 11 (6-9 pm) and Saturday, September 12 (9 am - 4 pm). A light dinner will be provided Friday as well as lunch and snacks on Saturday.

Here is some additional information: "Our world is stressed and hurting. People around you need spiritual and emotional care. Come and learn how you can become an effective spiritual first responder, right where God has placed you. Jesus taught us to love and serve our neighbors. Discover how you can be the empathetic, helping presence He has called you to be. Learn the basics of Spritual First Aid, a biblically informed framework for crisis care. Gain practical helping skills through applie activities and role-playing. Understand research-backed tactics, trauma care practices, and field-tested tools.

Rev. Dr. Leach Installed

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Rev. Dr. Leroy Leach was installed as St. Matthew's Assistant Pastor. Rev. Leach has spent decades in pastoral ministry. Prior to his retirement, he was a theology professor at Concordia University Bronxville, NY. Rev. Leach will serve St. Matthew on an as-needed basis when Pastor Janneke is unavailable. He is also assisting Peace Lutheran in Conway during their pastoral vacancy and sometimes serves other area LCMS congregations as well. We are grateful for Rev. Leach's continued dedication to Christ's kingdom and for his service in our midst! Here are several pictures from a special day on the 16th. Pictured in the top picture are (from left to right) Vicar Jason Hancock from Peace Lutheran, Pastor Kory Janneke from St. Matthew, Rev. Dr. Leroy Leach, and Rev. Kevin Conger from Hope Lutheran, Jacksonville. Rev. Conger is our LCMS Mid-South Vice President and served as the officiant for the installation.

Travelers Baseball Game - Aug. 20

Youth, families, friends, and church members are invited to attend the Arkansas Travelers game against the Springfield Cardinals on Thursday, August 20 at 6:35pm. The church will provide general admission tickets for all members and their guests who are attending. We will meet outside the box office at 6:20pm. It is recommended that you park in the lot adjacent to Dickey-Stephens Park. We will be sitting as a group on the outfield berm. Lawnchairs or a picnic blanket are recommended, but some outfield seating is available. If you plan to attend, please sign up in the church entryway so we can plan accordingly. 

Installation of Pastor Leach - August 16, 2026

On Sunday, August 16, 2026, Rev. Dr. Leroy Leach will be installed as an Assistant Pastor at St. Matthew. (Rev. Leach will continue to serve on an as-needed basis.) Following our 10am service, we will have a potluck meal in the Fellowship Hall. Fried chicken will be provided. Members are invited to bring sides, desserts, or drinks to share. A sign up sheet for food is provided in the entryway. An abbreviated installation service for Pastor Leach will take place at approximately noon or shortly after. Please stay and participate!
